The policy of Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia is to publish thematic issues. Interested authors are invited to consult the list indicating the issues that the journal plans to publish in the future. However, a space will be provided for a limited number articles that do not conform to the thematic of a given issue in an Varia section.

1. | Original Articles |
The RPF publishes original articles of recognised merit. All submited articles are evaluated. For more information on the Evaluation process please visit this page: Evaluation of Texts | |
2. | Article Structure |
I. | The submitted text must be unpublished. |
II. | The submitted text should not exceed 15,000 words (with footnotes and bibliography included). |
III. | The articles may be written in the prominent European languages (Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish). Starting from 2025 we will not publish articles in German or Italian. |
IV. | The article should be sent in .DOC or .DOCX format. |
V. | General Article Structure |
1. | Cover Sheet. |
a. | Title of the article (not to be delivered with capitular or small caps); |
b. | Name(s) and institution(s); / (not to be delivered with capitular or small caps); |
c. | E-mail address; |
d. | Abstract / should not exceed 1250 characters (with spacing included) and should be written in English only. |
e. | Keywords / between 4 and 8, only written in English and arranged from right to left in alphabetical order. |
2. | Body Text |
a. | Body text divided into sections; |
b. | All references should be included in footnotes at the end of each page; |
c. | The article should end with a final section of Bibliography. |

a. | The same that is in the previous Section only without any reference to the identity of the Author(s). |

3. | Style and References |
The Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia follows the bibliographical reference of Chicago Manual of Style 16th Edition (FULL NOTE). | |
Please note that this specific norm of bibliographical reference mantains two different styles that must be applied: one for the footnotes and another for the final section of Bibliography. | |
Therefore, we request to interested authors that before submitting your articles you should check if your text follows this guidelines. | |
Articles submitted that do not meet this criterion will be automatically rejected. | |

It is mandatory that the authors include the DOI in the bibliographic references in the final section of bibliography (this if said bibliographic reference have a DOI). | |
Regardless of the origin of the reference the DOI is always the last element to be included. | |

4. | Copyright & Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement |
When submitting a article the author grants the full right of the same to the RPF, so that in subsequent publications, even by the author itself, a written authorization/permission is required from the RPF director. | |
For the use of any article or part thereof the rules stipulated by the copyright law in vigour shall apply. | |

5. | Evaluation and Publication Process |
Authors should propose 3 names of possible evaluators of his article. These proposed evaluators should be experts on the scientific domain of the article. It is the Editorial Board who decides who will be the evaluators, because of that is possible that none of the proposed names could be one of the evaluators of the article. | |

6. | Article Submission, Annual Limit and Authorship Limitation |
Please note that only one article per author per year will be appreciated. | |
Please note that the Journal accepts articles with a maximum of two authors. Other possibilities will, by way of exception, be reviewed by the Journal's Editorial Board. | |
